1. What is this site all about?
To sum it up in a short sentence: The point of this site is to provide a manifold bunch of singleplayer challenges to play offline.
2. How does the system work?
Under Challenge List you can find all the currently available singleplayer challenges. All these challenges have one or more objectives that need to be achieved in order to successfully complete them. Depending on how well you've done, you'll gain a certain number of experience points and gold upon completion. You need to provide a replay of your attempt which will then have to be validated by a moderator.
3. What are these challenges like?
The challenges can be anything. Usual things like finishing a Rope Race within a set time or a Nadejump Race with a limited amount of turns, or crazier stuff like hitting targets on a map with given weapons or having a match against the CPU using a special scheme without losing a worm. If you have an idea for a challenge, please post your suggestion in the forum!
4. What are the experience points for?
By reaching a certain amount of EXP, your level will rise. Your level isn't of any particular importance, it's only there to show your progress and to allow some sort of standings, so you can compare your general record with the other players. The higher a challenge's difficulty value, the more EXP you gain by completing it. Also, you will get more EXP, the better your record for a challenge is.
5. What is the gold for?
With the gold you earn by completing challenges, you can buy rewards, like e.g. maps that aren't downloadable elsewhere or fun tool-assisted replays.
6. Can I play and report as many challenges as I like?
Theoretically yes; the only limitation is that you can't report more than 10 challenges per day.
7. Can I report a certain challenge more than once?
Yes, you can send in new replays for a challenge as often as you like. The only restriction is: The record in the replay must be better than your previous ones. You can find the data of all your reported challenges on your status page. Keep in mind, though, that you'll get less EXP and gold every time you re-report a challenge.
8. What happens if I don't enter a correct playback time for the replay?
The playback time is what the moderators are strictly gearing to when validating a report. If they don't find a valid challenge attempt around the entered playback time, the report will be denied. If you're playing a challenge that requires the moderator to watch the whole replay, simply enter 00:00.
9. Why do I have to decide on a team upon registration?
It's a security measure that's supposed to prevent people from uploading replays that are not their own. Once you have chosen a team name to play the challenges with, you are not allowed to change it anymore (unless you haven't reported a challenge yet). Additional teams you may be using don't matter - it's only important that the team you specified can be found in all the replays you send in.
10. What are the system messages for?
You can get system messages in several occasions. For example, when a challenge report of yours got denied by a moderator, you will get a message with the reason. You will also get notified when you rised a level or when someone beat your highscore. System messages get deleted automatically 7 days after you received them.
11. How exactly does the checking of a report for a time-based challenge work?
Generally, the start of a turn is considered the 0.00 frame, that means the frame at which the ingame counter starts off. The start of a turn is not the frame at which you leave the start, so in case you mess up the beginning and want to redo it, you will have to get back to the start, move your aim to the standard position and skip your turn. Once you reach the finish, the counter stops in the frame of your worm touching the finish or another worm connected to it - not when you surrender and end the turn manually. Note: If you touch the finish after you lost your turn (for example by jumping off a high cliff and then landing on the finish), then the counter stops in the frame of you losing your turn.
12. Are there any general rules that apply for all the challenges?
Yes. Unless the challenge description explicitly states otherwise, the following guidelines apply: - You may abuse any glitches the game offers. - In challenges that require you to get from one point to another, you may not use shortcuts. - You may use the OfflineRopeKnocking_On.reg tweak. - You may alter the challenge scheme or use test versions, if it does not influence the challenge gameplay. If you're unsure whether or not you're allowed to do a certain change, either forget about it or ask in the forum. Example: Adding teleports to a RopeRace scheme to get worms back to the start is no problem at all.
13. Is it possible to get banned from TCB?
Foul behaviour on the forums or obvious cheating attempts can get you temporarily banned from TCB. It is generally not an easy task to get banned here, so consider it an achievement if you managed to do it anyway.
14. I can't see what the pictures beside the challenge difficulties are supposed to say.
If you are not sure about a challenge's difficulty value, either count the number of coloured bars in the picture or move your mouse over it and wait until a little text box with the exact number appears.
15. What are those stars beside some of the reports on status pages?
If you find a star beside a report, then this report points toward a highscore of a particular challenge.
16. Why has my report not been validated? Are the mods being lazy?
Maybe they are! But another possibility might be that your report wasn't uploaded properly. If you're suspecting that, check your profile page - that's where all your replays are listed, including the ones pending for validation. If that particular replay you're missing isn't to be found there, then either the upload didn't work or the report has been denied. In the latter case, you'll receive a system message telling you the reason. If you didn't get one, then feel free to re-upload the replay.
17. I can't find an answer to my question.
In that case, feel free to ask your question in the forum!
